What a climb, Rick!
Nice speed effect on the first shot.

Thanks Frederic. That hill is steeper than most in this area, but is a mere speed-bump compared to the Alps in your country. Speaking of the Alps, The Tour de France starts July 4'th.

Rick, I used to watch avidly the Tour de France - and especially when they crossed the mountains. I must say that all this medical stuff around the race has made it much less attractive...

Here's another picture I took at the Manayunk Bike Race. I know this isn't going to appeal to everyone, but I enjoy taking abstract pictures. Let me know what you think.

had a friend visiting from out of town last week. He's also into photography so we were out and about taking photos of interesting sites. This lighthouse is about 50 miles from our home, and I'd been there many times over the years with the Coast Guard. It has a concrete helicopter pad and was often used as a staging point for slinging materials and equipment to island lightstations.

I really enjoy this type of abstract-close up-textural photography. I like your shot.

Very nice image. I would think finding roll film these days would be rather difficult.

I’m just catching up on this thread. That’s a killer hill, Rick. You’re right, the alps climbs are tough, because they’re long and steep. That one’s a wall! I’ve ridden a number of races in New Jersey, but never Manayunk. Where is it? If I ever make a comeback, I want to avoid it.

That’s interesting texture and shading in your last picture, Rick.

I like your texture, Cody, quite a contrast from Ricks.

Speaking of change, Bob your white lighthouse against a blue sky sure is inviting.

Thanks Cody and George. Cody, you have the eye for texture. Nice shot.

Just as a point of reference, here is what the original shot straight out of the camera looked like.

George, funny you should call it a wall, because that is exactly what it is called during the race. Manayunk is a suburb of Philly. I don't blame you for wanting to avoid it, I would too.

This is a picture I took last year on my trip out west. This was taken along route 80 in Wyoming.

Gerry: Nice photo, good to see you "on the road" again, posting photos!

Here's another view of the Greens Point lighthouse in my last photo:

Unfortunately, the 4-legged agent orange that we call Damnbies (aka White-Tailed Deer) once again this year beat us to the lilies. I have to go spray deer repellent every day when the lilies are budding to keep the deer away, and even that doesn't work sometimes. If it were legal, I think I'd spray them with some kind of poison!
