Carl: it is just plaster of paris.
I added it on the frame of the tree by using a very fine sieve and let it drop- carefully- 4-5 inches from the top....building up the layers of plaster by tapping against the sieve and right after that spraying with some water: has to be a very fine mist- over the tree and again some powder of plaster of paris etc etc....
When dry I paint the tree with 1 or 2 layers of cheap white wallpaint...thats all;-)
Btw the small tree is one inch tall......
