Thanks, guys.

One of the best benefits of photographing models is how it helps you see your work from a different perspective. The photos picked up several details I want to clean up on the structure...particularly the purplish color cast on the wanted poster image of el Oso Blanco. I will also add some subtle weathering around the top of the edifice, which somehow has remained perfectly white while the stucco everywhere else on the building is showing signs of disrepair.

Realist but unique modeling, combined with fun story telling... Gee, I wonder why I always enjoy my visits here?

Very well done jail, Verne. Sure, Oso Blanco doesn't look like an angel...

Thanks, Frederic. If you see 'Oso' coming, it's best to go the other way!

Bob, thanks for your comment, the story continues... [:-cowboy]

Chuckawalla Slim and Rocky have staked their claim on the vacant lot by the jail, and are ready to set up shop.

The truck got a final dusting of dust (!) and a lasso coiled around the steer horns and radiator. Slim strikes me as a guy who wouldn't want to be without a good rope!

I will make some items that Slim will have displayed around the truck...pots, maybe another animal skin draped over a fender, etc. The scene is nearly finished.

Meanwhile, back at the jail, I touched up some of the stucco and replaced the wanted poster after reworking the color of Oso's picture. The original image looked purple in photos.

Wait a minute...is it me, or is the center bar of Oso's window bent over to the left some? Maybe they should post a guard, what do you think?

Verne, I think a quick pull using a rope from the wagon would remove that bar, or would it pull the back of of the wagon, and even after removing the bar would Oso fit the hole, looks a mighty big fellow to me. Perhaps Jail food and the heat would slim him a bit. Just a few thoughts.

Heh...good thoughts Keith, they call him a 'bear' for a reason...he's very BIG, but he's also very STRONG. Perhaps with a little help from the outside he could be free again, but I don't think Slim will be interested in helping him...trying to pull the bar with his Ford would probably kill the truck!

Verne, perhaps a well placed stick of Dynamite would do the job if Oso could stand the blast.

No shortage of dynamite or blasting powder in a mining town...problem is like you suggest, it would probably take out the entire adobe jail and Oso.

Then again, maybe it would wound him, which would just make him more dangerous...kind of like Mongo in Blazing Saddles!

That truck fit right in... your modeling is personal and creative... I like the fictional quality of the whole layout. Keep the story developing!

Thanks, guys...I have started work on the cantina next door, and will be making vigas (the wood poles used to support the roof of adobe structures) this weekend from dried branches. The jail still needs vigas and canales, which help channel water off the roof. It's all great fun, and I've really looked forward to finishing San Lorenzo for some time.
