I am fiddling around between larger projects, and happened to come across some acrylic clay the other night. One thing led to another, and after some cutting, bending, etc., I came up with this:
This will be a fountain for the town square, located under a couple of large cottonwood trees. A statue of a local figure of interest will occupy the center column.
The patterns in the sides of the fountain were embossed using a decorative nail I found at a Michael's craft store. I plan to use them on the front of buildings as an architectural accent, but thought it might make an interesting pattern.
I also made a more traditional square fountain enclosure from florist foam, as an alternate choice to the wavy, curvy thing.
I am open to suggestions here...I am not sure which would look better in the town. Vote for your favorite - vote early, vote often! |

Verne, I vote (often) for the curvy one. I think it would look great with a colorful tile bottom.

| Both look great. I like the square one but the Terracotta free-form would probably be a nice contrast to all your other structures. |

Thank you all for your sincere (and repeated) votes! Another friend suggested a round fountain as commonly seen in European and Asian cities in the middle of traffic circles, called roundabouts by some. Since this isn't going to be in an intersection, I am sticking with square and curvy options for now!
The 'winning' shape will be re-built (these are first-attempt, proof of concept quality). The statue commemorating a local figure of some importance is coming along nicely. If you haven't voted, no fair whining if your favorite loses! |

Got it Dallas...no hanging chads, no excuses, just honest election results verified by the San Lorenzo Election Committee:

Polls will remain open until Sunday at 8 PM Arizona time. |

I'm also voting for "Miss Curvy" to be the statue.

Thank you for your participation...
Roland, regrettably the comely lady is merely the spokesperson for the curvy 'terra cotta' fountain...but thanks to your support, she has been nominated the first Miss San Lorenzo by the Chamber of Commerce! |
