Excellent!

Lucknow is coming along and the residents are going to be very pleased with their new town. The curvy street looks right and I like the brushy vegetation. The grain elevator is a good find. It will catch the eye and make the back drop less visible.

Whim will strike you and move structures around -- good mix right now as you add details.

I offer two ideas to think about. How would storm water run down the streets eroding soil and washing plants away. A couple of washouts would be a nice detail. Railroaders and local residents would wear away a shortcut from the station to the town. Once you settle on locations, create a 'path' up the hillside from the railroad tracks to the street. You could be more formal and put in stairs.

Thanks again for the great photos and happy new year.

Eric

Looks like Lucknow is coming together nicely! I like the bushy see-through look of the vegetation on the hill.

Thanks for the comments, guys....

Eric: you're reading my mind; I'm considering putting in a small platform across from the station, complete with stairs up to street level...great minds do think alike.

Crabster: when are you making the trek up here?

Bill...I'm still a little "iffy" about the look...it's difficult to glue fine turf foam to the poly fiber and expect it to stay there...time will tell if this actually works or not. It's definitely worth a try...

Rick,

I think you'll have to write a book on how to get so much done in a such a short period of time. Incredible progress and the corner area looks fantastic. I think the grade of the road is very natural looking and crossing the tracks at an angle really gives a sense of distance from the front to rear of the scene.

Hi Rick,
Those scenes are coming together very nicely. It will really look nice seeing long trains traveling through them. I really like the roadway!

Best, Andy Keeney

Look out for #1, but don't step in #2!

Hey Rick,, making great progress, wow! The scene is really starting to shape and I agree with you on the grain facility a great build in the wings there,,
Also Like Eric mentioned perhaps more of draining gulley between the hill and tracks, including some standing water,,,
Happy New Years!

Rick, nice work, nice mix of structure to capture small town feel. Try using hairspray to hold fine foam to poly fiber. mike h

Mike...that's a great suggestion! <furiously and repeatedly slapping head>...why didn't I think of that?????? No comment, Mark and Steam!

Joe...I actually have a small culvert built into the other roadway..the standing water idea is a great one...what do you recommend for a medium? I'm a novice when it comes to H2O modeling....

Grubes: I guess the answer to your question can best be summed up in two words: Golden Years...LOL. Oh, and having two or three people constantly poking and prodding (especially "Dad" Hueber, who calls every other day demanding to know what I've gotten done...the man can make you feel like an outright slacker! Side Note: Joe does NOT have a layout!)....and regular operating sessions ("Well, what have you done these past eight weeks, hmmmm???)

Thanks, Andy....when you coming east? There's a private airport about twenty minutes from here.....

The 'airy' look gives the impression of a 'vine weed'. That's a bad thing for farmers out here. I had some growing in my garden and it will choke out the stuff your trying to grow.

For water. Envirotex or Gloss medium is what I've used. Neither shrinks. I am going to try W/S water effects for some things just to try it. The old W/S water pellets yellowed, shrank and cracked.

Rick,
the scene is looking pretty good. Let me know when you're ready to sow some grass and I'll bring the Grassmaster!

Hi Rick,

One day soon I hope. I need to make a run to Sattlers. Maybe during the division meet in Jan? I'll have to see on that one as I am on dayshift that weekend.

OOooooooo.....a Grassmaster! Arnold! Buddy! Pal! LOL.

What I need is something that oozes "Pennsylvania", sorta like the RC Cola and Moon Pie southern atmosphere that your layout so beautifully conveys....hmmmmm, let's see....shoofly pie? Sauerkraut? Soft pretzels? Cheesesteaks? (too Philly).....

Actually one of the stores in my too-small business district is named "Bunz Baked Goods"...that might count.....
