Great work, Rick and "other" guys!
Rick, who is your plastic sheet vendor? It wouldn't happen to be Everything Plastic (formerly Arch Street Plastics) near the BF Bridge in Philly, would it? I'm also using .060 polystyrene for my backdrop, which I purchased there. I was just wondering if there's someplace not across the Delaware "Ocean" that carries it.
Also, care to post a little bit of detail about your lighting and valence constrcution? |

| This is very cool stuff. I drive by that area at least once a week. You've captured the flavor of it very well. Of course, it is a little more run-down nowadays. |

Thanks guys...Mike, both of them are responsible for getting me off my rear and finally completing what I started so long ago, although their methods of motivating can be shady at times. As an example, Steam Nut casually mentioned one worknight in early December that we could have a loop in and operating by the end of January, thereby igniting my motivation. Seeing how well this psychological prod worked, both he and Mark F now have a upped the ante with new mantra: Operating By April 1st.
A well-developed sense of panic is now starting to set in.... |

Bruton...sorry I didn't answer sooner...and it was great meeting you yesterday. I bout 4 x 8 sheets of .060 styrene from a plastics distributor in Mount Laurel; the name escapes me at the moment but I'll try to find out and post it. There is a minimum charge of $50.00 as memory serves.
Since I have a suspended ceiling, the valance was constructed to hang off the sheet metal supporting system. Basically, I scored and snapped the styrene to the desired width, then attached a piece of 1/2 x 1/2 wood trim (Home Depot or Lowes) to the top edge. Then, holding it in position, marked where it crossed the sheet metal supports, drilled a hole through the wood and support, and attached it with a small nut and bolt. Here's an explanatory (I hope) diagram:

One of the cheif reasons it's took me so long to get this far is due to a very bad habit of interrupting my work efforts and indulging in a little futuristic fantasy....having accumulated a few PRR ore jennies, I couldn't resist an urge to pose them:
Philly to Pittsburgh Ore Movement Past Herr Street Yard:

And passing through Lucknow:

Found the thread on your layout this morning...VERY impressive! I really like the rolling work station idea and have aready starting scouting around for one. |
