Sticky hint!

OK, I get the hint.

Wow.. I am honored.. I did not think it was worthy enough of being a sticky. I know I made quite a few mistakes and the end result turned out okay.. but if it is of help to anyone at all, then I am happy.

Arthur,
The mistakes are what makes it worthwhile as a sticky.
You've already done them, that way we don't have to do the same mistakes over again. LOL

I used some fine twisted wire that I found at the local RC Store that the aircraft guys use. It works great for the wires that go up and over the gallows part of the turntable. Hope that makes sense. Just a source.

I don't think you were hallucinating Philip, I saw them too. Why were they taken down?

Hi Guys --

I posted the files, then realized there might be some copyright issues that I hadn't considered ... so took them back down. If I can obtain permission or find out that they're "public domain", I'll repost.

Meanwhile, a fairly recent issue of the NG&SL Gazette has plans for an A-frame turntable that should be equally useful:

Sept/Oct 2000 NG&SL Gazette, p. 58-59, drawings of "The El Portal, California Turntable" (Yosemite Valley RR, former SP)

Should be fairly simple to track this down at the library, swap meets, on-line auctions, etc.

PS -- When I got home from running errands today, I found a note from the FedEx guy: "I tried to deliver the stuff you ordered for your turntable project today, but, sadly, you weren't here. Frankly, I'm a little disappointed that you think going to the bank, post office and even the grocery is more important than working on the railroad. If you're not here tomorrow, I'm going to build the turntable myself!" [:-bigeyes2]

Guess I'd better stay home tomorrow!

The "events" reported here do not represent the opinions or actions of FedEx or its employees ... and have only a tangential relationship to any actual reality. (I did miss the delivery!) [:-boggled]

Cheers,
Dallas

Hello,
Did any of you see the article in the new On30 annual. Very good article on scratch building a turntable. There is also a link in the article to go on line to download the full size scale drawings.
