Mike, nice model. It was great to get 'up close and personal' to this unit.

Hey Mike. Great catch. I really like it when you can link the model to the prototype. Here are some offerings for this week.

Let's start with CPR

I caught this RS-3 in Suffern, NY as it was being delivered in its 'new' paint scheme to the New York & Greenwood Lake RR ( a short line in Garfield, NJ).

Great shot Bruce. First time I have seen this road. RS3s are classics. I will post some B&Ms next week.

Chris,

I think that the RS-3 had been D&H 4085 in a previous life. That copy of the Erie paint scheme is one of my favorites. I was sure surprised to see it in the siding that day.

Bruce. A good friend of ours Michel Boucher models the D&H and he has a number of fine alco models on his layout. Mike Hamer posted a few earlier. I am looking forward to going back to his house during the holidays and we are going to paint backdrops. Maybe I can get some RS3 model shots then. I agree with the crabster...your ballast is very clean and natural looking.

Another New Jersey short line is the Morristown and Erie. It is still alive and well a few miles from where I live. This RS-1 belongs to the Whippany Train Museum, and still heads up tourist runs.

Anton & Chris,

Thanks for the compliments on my ballast. There are pictures of my layout here and there on the Forum, but the only dedicated thread is of the Quarry Branch. http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12493&whichpage=1

Just got word that my three Atlas RS3s came in today. I also ordered two RS11s for the June shipment.
I paid $265 for the three units including my sales tax. Two P&Ws and a Vermont. Love my local hobby shop.
Good selection, good prices and great service. Pioneer Valley Hobbies in West springfield Mass.

That is a great deal John. They should be great on your Pen Central Concept. You will have to post them on your layout. Bruce. Those are great colours on the Morristown and Erie tourist RR. Denifitely could not be missed at the crossing.

John, I picked up my pair of RS3's in Lackawanna paint today. I can't wait to try them out on the layout.

Chris, a while back, Atlas released the RS1's in lettered for the M&E. Here's a shot of mine on some unballasted & unweathered track.
