Those were great shots Ben. My all time favorite CN Alco rework is the RSC-14. They were converted from RS18s. This picture was taken in the late 80's at the Fairview Roundhouse and shops. They were fantastic for switching the port and worked in pairs most of the time. They had great run up qualities which was best for kicking cars and getting going from a dead stop. Based on the louvers it looks like this alco was originally used in Tempo commuter passanger service from Motnreal to Windsor. Any other comments on this fantastic locomotive would be much appreciated.

Here is a shot of it in Tempo scheme

Mike. Can you please give me the name of the photographer for these last two pictures. These came from Marty's friend last year and were scanned by Rob. Thanks |

| The bell is on the short hood. This is really different as CN usually ran long hood forward in the later years.. Small fuel tanks as well. |

Hey guys (and Mike H.)...
I'll have to go down to the Edmonton Model Railroad Association clubhouse at Fort Edmonton Park and take some more photos of this wonderful 30 by 50 twin-deck mushroom style HO layout.
www.emraonline.ca
The layout depicts a steam-diesel transition line ('Monashee Pacific RR') between Vernon and Castlegar BC, with a branch to the huge lead-zinc Cominco smelter at Trail. This layout has been under construction since 1991 and boasts over 800 feet mainline, a total of over 2600 feet of siding, yard and staging tracks. This layout also has about 3.5 miles of wiring and uses DigiTrax radio DCC.
Oh, did I mention over 40,000 scratchbuilt trees?
Not your average home layout wiring set-up...

Sorry Chris...my bad [:-banghead]
Just responding to Mike H. re: your photos from the club with your MLW power.
Thanks for the info on 2023...We had a MLW M636 for troubleshooting training at Winnipeg back when I was just a 'piglet' (engineer trainee)...yep, it was trouble, alright
Good idea...I will get some pics and start a thread on the Monashee Pacific in the near future. Am I best to do that in the 'crew lounge' or somewhere else?

Here is one for U Kenny. Tell us the story as you were just a twinkle in your mommy's eye when this roared by.

Safety gear was sure different in those days [:-eyebrows][:-glasses][:-glasses]

Here is an Alco switcher that is usually seen taking oil tank cars over to Dartmouth to "Imper' Oil"

Sometimes the black and whites say it all:)

Seeing that brakie hanging on to that FA reminds me of switching with F7's in (you name it) Prince Rupert BC or McLennan AB.
Good unit but hellish for the brakeman hanging on like that. What gets me is that when I was in 'Rupert going to Kitimat, they would have a F7/GP9/F7 consist on the 'Hill Turn'.
After working with that consist for an 8 hour day, you felt like your arms were REALLY long.
About the safety gear...yeah, no one can hide any more...especially with all of those cameras in the main yards now |

Two locomotives...one move[:-dopey][:-dopey][:-jump][:-jump]
Here is an interesting shot at the roundhouse in Halifax Nova Scotia. Of course it is gone now. You can get an RS18 and RSC-14 on the turntable at once. However the engineer or brakeman has to check to make sure the wheels are not over the edge before the turn.
