Hello all, Well I've been workin on the Bowser Northern. Should have it completely done by December. I had to rework the boiler walkway's to fit the pump for the Worthington heater. Lot's of bending. I am afraid of work hardening the walkways. Seems to me that I remember heating to a dull red and quenching in cold water to make dead soft. But, that was ten years or more ago. Anybody else know?
Basically you are correct though brass can be subjected to various annealing temperatures but you just need to be close. Bottom line dull red or even bright red will work. Then immediately plunge it into cold water.
