I have a bunch of locos with decoders in them (some bachmann decoders and some digitrax decoders) and I can't seem to get the zephyr to read any of the decoders.
It has worked in the past as I've renumbered 3 locos to new addresses. The locos all respond under normal operation i.e. I can operate all the decoder functions on all the locos fine. When I try programming them that's where I'm having issues.
I've tried connecting the rails to the zephyr on the program track terminals and the rail terminals and using ops mode to program and neither are working now.
With the rails connected to the programming terminals, I set one loco on the rails, plug in the zephyr, hit program and select "dir" mode. Then i hit loco and AD2 and then CV rd and it flashes for a while and eventually says "d nr" as if it can't read the decoder. With the rails connected to the rail terminals, I do the same thing except using "OPS" mode and I get the same thing "d nr". It doesn't seem to matter what decoder or loco is on the rails, I get the same thing.
The few locos I did renumber, I had similar issues and just kept trying until it finally worked. I'm sure this isn't right. If there was really a problem reading the decoders, why do they respond fine while operating them? All sound etc works fine. I just can't seem to get to any programming functionality. I also tried reading CV's and I get the same issue.
