With its shorter days and days off, this time of the year tempts the modelmaker to start new projects. I try to resist temptation by beginning the new year with fewer unfinished projects on my desk.

One that has gone unfinished for too long is my model of a Central of Vermont boxcar, actually a modified BTS laser kit of a PRR 28' boxcar. Today it went through the paint shop.

Next step: Art Griffin decals.

Thank you, Greg. I know I'm in good company when you offer up something from your storehouse of wordplay.

David, Thank you for the kind comments. I tend to switch back and forth between building structures and rolling stock in my modeling, enjoying both, but like you I enjoy structures the most of all model railroad activities.

Because I'm modeling from a prototype photo of a store in Alderson I don't plan to do the wing, but I agree that it adds a lot to the Ricketts company store.

Mike, I'll be following along! Structures are my favorite topic.
Are you going to add the wing as in the photo of the Ricketts company store? The wing does adds a lot of character to the building.

Thank you, Chuck.

Iíve been through the general area on Interstate 81 so have come rather close to the places Iím modeling. Perhaps itís time for me to get off the highway and visit some of the sights. It would make a good stopping-off point on our trips from WV to VT.

Michael great looking boxcars; very well done. Nice start to the building. I'm always interested in how others scratch build things and what they build. Good start; keep going.

Dave,

The ďlookĒ is primarily what Iím after, so thank you for your comment.

Ricketts, Alderson and other places along the LV Bowmanís Creek Branch were in a tourist region of lakes and streams; Iím not surprised youíve been there.

Nice! You've captured the look with the parts from the parts-box. I think I've been to Ricketts Glen State Park, but I don't remember if any of the lumber era buildings are still there. (It was more than 40 years ago...)
