Posted - 06/23/2012 : 09:35:22 AM I've a new project underway - but wanted to make sure I was getting somewhere before posting up. This will be a pier for my layout. I call it the Deep River Railroad Pier. If nothing else, posting up gives me the impetus to finish the sucker. |

Posted - 08/14/2012 : 3:47:47 PM The way you go about things is very interesting, I love all the detail work on the computer before you start cutting material. I tend to go about it the other way round and have a very rough drawing and then work it out as I build so I find your approach most refreshing. Excellent work.

Posted - 08/09/2012 : 08:01:44 AM Man. Internet down for three days .. finally back up.
Well. Not that happy with my first try at making trucks for the crane. I realize now that I was concentrating too much on the 'details' and not enough on getting everything aligned.
Looking at what I'm going to call "Version 1" .. I'm thinking through the way to "do it better". Ah well. Lesson's learned and all that. Need to make a LHS run for more channel - Hint - Jigs, Jigs .. and more Jigs. More to come. :)

Posted - 08/01/2012 : 2:11:10 PM Almost to point I can finish painting the 'water' .. just gotta let the rock dry some. should be able to glue in the retaining wall .. which is cool because I can start laying track.

Thanks, I think I'm ok. I have ONE N-scale flatcar. It has metal wheels with plastic centers .. checked .. wheels will slide on the axles so I SHOULD be good. That's assuming I don't lose one. If I do .. I will give you a shout. |

Posted - 07/31/2012 : 8:06:14 PM Bill, Yeah. That's what I thought. A blind hole drilled into each of the 'bearings' should work fine for the purpose.
Yeah. Dave does such EXCELLENT work. For those who don't know .. check out his website

Posted - 07/31/2012 : 8:00:46 PM Coming along nice Ed.....great idea about using "N" wheels. On the "Bearings" where the axle fits inside, would it be possible to use solid round stock & drill out the space for the axles, leaving the outside end of the "bearing" solid? Just a thought. I glued two On30 bachmann wheels front to back and didnt like the outcome. Still too wide...your idea is better. SorryI haven't been back sooner..... |
