Posted - 06/13/2012 : 5:51:46 PM Generally all that I have seen, when the loco is moving, the armature will not heat up as much. I also did a bench test using an infra red temp scanner and that test agreed that when the motor is turning, it does not get as hot when standing still. But your mileage can vary. Just install a switch on a siding for this loco so you can protect the motor.

Posted - 06/13/2012 : 3:24:23 PM Ok so it is possible but I have to make a place where the loco can sit whitout power on the track, and martin I'm sorry for your overheat loce ;) I don't ask
and rich I got the manual the system is brand new and I bought it because the price is right and cheaper than at an DCC decoder to an bachmann gandydancer that I bought for my little cousin so this is a good option I just wanted to the overheating part and what kind of motor can get overheat faster ? |

Posted - 06/13/2012 : 2:31:22 PM Download the manual from the Bachmann site. I just looked at it. There are a few in the Bachmann forums who use this system. It has limitations but it can get people started. Use address 10 but the motor will buzz. Nature of the beast. All DCC systems put a low voltage AC type signal on the track and this causes the motor armature to vibrate at the DCC frequency. I did this with an old MRC 2000 system some years ago. Some motors can overheat when the loco is standing still so make sure you can switch off the track where the loco sits.

Posted - 06/13/2012 : 2:11:15 PM Not with the EZ command, but I can run one analog locomotive on my digitrax system. It's on adress 0 if I'm correct. Don't let it stand to long withpout running on the powered track...fries your engine...don't ask me how I know... |
