I asked bout HO scale sides (see "Where's The (HO Scale) Beef (Sides)?") of beef, but now that i got them, it's tiime to show you, still under construction, my HO scale scratchbuilt E. L. & P. Meat Corp meat packing plant; I got a long way to go though, wioth more parts and detailing needed, as my layout, The Neo Capernaum R.R., is under construction since 1981. I need scale figures of butcher staff and electrical conduit detailing and building details, boxes, and some brass details to make the hooks and the overhead rollin rack for the sides of beef.

The building, where the elevated mainline runs over, was built of Evergreen styrene plastic, a Walthers cooling chiller machine for buildings and some detailed parts shaped like packing boxes as well; got a long way to go.

Photos coming later.

What Slim is showing here, looks like the sliding barn door rollers with hook for the meat attached to the bottoms of the rollers.
We used those type of door rollers on our farm.

I'll stick with brass; it's sturdier than plastic and i doubt if photo etched racks would work

Hi Dave,
Yes, I see the sketches. Maybe there is a configuration issue with a browser setting? Since Firefox has started putting out a release a month or something, I have been getting strange results. Now, I am pretty much using only Chrome.
Regards, Vic B.

I see your sketches, Dave. I wish I could explain why I see them and other's can't. but that's beyond my computer knowledge.

Thinking about this a bit more:
Make the rails from channel, either styrene (Evergreen/Plastruct) or brass. Use small beads for the rollers themselves:

Construct the meat hooks via a metal rod with a hook on the bottom, that goes into the hole in the bead on the top.

You can get -very small beads- from Michaels with small diameter holes in them (for threading the beading wire), I've used one of them for a knob at the end of a shifter. I think Plastruct makes smaller channel than Evergreen.

What do they look like?

Could you build the roller racks using brass angle stock (K&S), and maybe improvise the rollers from beads from a craft store?

Right said, but let's get back on topic with the meat plant? I got a long way to go.

Yup. I did that as an homage to the legendary classic rock band, which I grew up listening to.

Very cool! [:-thumbu]

Their music is timeless and epic.
Brain Salad Surgery!!

I dunno, I find EL&P to be dated, but "Tarkus" is one of my all-time favorite album covers. Anytime I hear the Janacek Symphonetta, I do start to sing the words to "Knife Edge": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3p2XxjuV0Y

Now where would there be a good place for brass materials for the roller racks?
