I posted this in "The Diesel Shop" and did not draw any response, so I will give it a run here.
Over the past two years I have purchased three units, a BNSF, NS, and KCS. For various reasons, I have just recently tested these three units and have some questions that I hope can be answered here. For the record I use a DigiTrax super Chief and DecoderPro. All three units have factory default settings with the exception of address. The addresses have been switched to four digits.
(1) Sound: The sound issue has been nicely answered in another thread.
(1) Muting: This function does not seem to work on any of the three units. Does it work on yours?
(2) Dimming: This function does not seem to work on any of the three units. Does dimming work on your units?
(3) Ditch Lights: The ditch lights work on the NS unit but not the other two. I am assuming that the bulbs need replaced.
If I need to replace the ditch lights, I will most likely replace all lights with LEDs. I have been unhappy with blue LEDs and yellow LEDs that have been factory installed in other diesels that I have. I would appreciate your experience.
I am able to do the replacements myself; however, I may want to pack up the three units and send them off to somebody else to do for me. Any suggestions on who I should consider, Tony's Train Exchange comes to mind?

You might want to contact Ulrich, discussed in the other thread. Not sure if they do installations, but they would likely know someone that does them using their upgrade kit. |
