The much anticipated "Delwins Boat & Net Storage" is shipping from www.railscaleminiatures.com
Judging from the size of the box this is RSM Dario's biggest kit yet!
This years kit is based on a couple of real structures found in Brownsmead, Oregon in the U.S.
And it's just packed full of goodies!
The kit comes with Dario's well written 78 page instruction booklet.
And a new feature with this years kit, a CD with 24 colour photo's showing the completed diorama built by Dario, taken from all different angles.Though Dario's instructions always have lots of Black & white photo's, this added feature of having 24 coloured photo's to see will be really helpful during construction.
It has so many bits & pieces it's really hard to show in one photo.
So here are a couple of shots showing this kits contents.
And a close up shot of the castings that come with the kit.
And the 3 resin cast Bowpicker boats that Dario has had specially produced for this kit.
Also a nice assortment of signs in differing colours for you to choose from.
I won't be able to start this right away.[:-banghead]
I will use this thread as my build thread when I get around too it.
I just had to share with you my excitement! About finally receiving this kit in the mail.
I also promised a forum member,that was asking about this kit.
That I would show him the contents, when the kit arrived.

If this is going to be at the EXPO glad it will be shown under room lights.
Otherwise we won't stand a chance of winning. Just some excellent pictures Greg. |

Hi Alan,I somehow missed this question.
I use a product from "Hamilton Model Works" called dirt.
It's very much like a coloured grout with sand mixed in it.

How did you create your gravel parking area? I typically use "fine" ballast but with close-up shots, the rocks still look too big.

Hi Alan,and thank you for your kind words!
I am away from my house right now and will be until the 19th,so I can't check or remember what resistors were used in my lighting kit from Ngineering for Delwins.
I mostly used the ne incandescent coloured LED's for this build,which give a nice warm colour.
You could give Tim at Ngineering a call for a quicker answer then I will be able to give you.
As for my camera settings when it comes to low light shots.I set my F stop at 22,and use the A setting "Aperture priority shooting" which allows the camera to set the optimum shutter speed automatically.
I hope this answers at least, one of your questions. |

Hi Brad and Greg. Wow, just catching up with this thread! What an honour, Brad, to have a boat named after me. To be in the company of Greg is so wonderful. Greg, your outdoor shots are truly inspirational. Words cannot describe! Brad and Greg, I know all forum members appreciate all the time the two of you take to share these fine images of your efforts...a lot of extra time that could be spent on further modelling. Hey Greg,
REALLY like your pictures!! May I ask what type of resistors you used? I just used 3K 1/4w Resistors on my Diorama and when I take a picture of them, they appear too brrght? Also, is there a special setting you used on your camera to take your pictures?

Greg, I have been away from the forum for a few days so I have missed the latest pictures. I must say Wow, they look absolutely fantastic with great realism.
Aye, I can even feel and smell the wet sea air and hear the water lapping against the pier[:-pirate]

Excellent shots Greg! The quality of this diorama and its portability to the outdoors and into natural lighting makes it a totally different kind of endeavor than a train layout . . . The emphasis is on natural realism. One is stunned by the fact that this is in actuality an HO scale model. WOW!

Realism at a very high level, Greg. The shot showing the sunset behind the building while the boat is nearing the wharf is particularly great. |
