Welcome to the largest show in eastern Canada dedicated to scale model trains.
OTTAWA TRAIN EXPO is presented to showcase the skills of railroad hobbyists, offer a venue for obtaining hobby materials and foster interest in the hobby with the general public.
Live clinics and demonstrations will offer something for everyone. OTTAWA TRAIN EXPO includes the various scales of model railroading. But, there's much more than just the trains — shop for scenery, tools, electronics, parts, videos, books, building supplies, software… everything you could want to make your hobby more enjoyable!
Enthusiasm fills OTTAWA TRAIN EXPO. For two days adults become kids, kids become hobbyists… Let your imagination soar as you enjoy the vast miniature country-sides and towns, then marvel at the simplicity of how it was done.
Many of us were introduced to model trains when we were kids and immediately were hooked. We have activities that show families how important their presence at OTTAWA TRAIN EXPO truly is. Our mission is to support the hobby of model railroading, as well as to inspire the hobbyists of tomorrow.
Whether you're looking to expand your layout or you are just beginning in the hobby, OTTAWA TRAIN EXPO is the place to be to see manufacturers and dealers roll out the latest products.
Come, join us for a great time and discover the magic of model railroading first hand. You're sure to leave with an enduring memory — and you may just start a new hobby.

Posted - 05/10/2012 : 09:25:11 AM My "other" hobby is Live Steaming - we had "the gang" here - i.e. people manning the booth from Ottawa, Kingston, and Montreal.

Lots of interest; too bad we could not steam the locomotives!
Maybe next year...

Posted - 05/08/2012 : 5:05:19 PM Hi Ron. Great pics, as always. No risk of stealing from a thread...the more pics the merrier!
If it wasn't for all the hard work Ron, Chris, Fred & Monique, Joel, Gilbert, Mike R. and the rest of their team put into the organizing, we couldn't have had a show like this. A great big note of appreciation for you, Ron, and the entire team! [:-thumbu][:-thumbu] |

Posted - 05/08/2012 : 1:44:51 PM At the rick of "stealing" mike's thread, I thought I would post some of the pictures I managed to take at the Rail Expo here.
To begin, a few pictures of the set-up Friday night.

The children's play area was a popular destination for the young ones.

One of the clinics had Greg Shinnie giving a clinic on using SMD LED's on his builds.

Speaking about Greg, here is some of his handiwork he brought to display.

Joel Freedman also brought some impressive dioramas for display

A couple of the many dealers

The SLD of the NMRA even was represented at the show doing a modelers corner.

Lego was also well represented with a very large display.

A couple of the many layouts, first up is S scale

And finally, a copy of G scale trains

So what did I learn this weekend, if you want to take pictures, check out the venders and look around, don't be on the organizing committee.

I just got back home from a day in Ottawa at the Train Expo. Very well organized and I really enjoyed the day. I wish I had more time available to bargain hunt. It's one of the better shows I've been to in the past couple of years. Very well done. Kudos to the organizers and vendors...

Several people stopped me on the street and told it was a wonderful show, they really enjoyed it. Same goes for the vendors and the display operators. They all had a great time. I think the record is a couple that flew in from Edmonton.
PS: How many tickets did you buy to win the Justin Bieber photo? |
