Posted - 08/12/2010 : 05:22:50 AM So for people who like to know what I'm up to. I decided 3 weeks ago that it would be nice to model in a larger scale. Still got no idea of what the complete railroad should look like. First I need to order some trains and rolling stock and figure out wich kinda track I'm gonna use. But what I do know is that I always liked it to model structures and love waterfronts. So I gave it a shot and with some car heights from the internet decided to build my first wharf in 0 scale. Here we go..first pilings goin in

Posted - 11/14/2012 : 12:19:54 AM Great stuff Marty!
Its always great to see what you have been up to when I pop in on the On30 line. Some wonderful progress. Great weathering, some wonderful mini scenes, and some great composition. The way that curved track in the third pic down of the last page leads your eye into the scene is magic! The weathering and colours on the wharf scene above is spot on. It has a lovely rambling feel and leaves me hungry for more!
Cheers, Mark. |

Mike, I use the same technique for water as Troels does, extra heavy gel medium gloss together with a diamond shaped paletteknive. After shaping the lines in the water I tapper the knive flat on the waves to be, the knive pulles the gel medium up and creates waves like that. Touch of white paint on the tops and your done... |

Posted - 11/12/2012 : 5:45:42 PM Thanks, Martin, for sharing the latest photos and video. It's a remarkable bit of modelling and one that I know is greatly appreciated by all who see it! [:-apple][:-apple][:-apple]
I went back through the entire thread to read the progress. What a great project. One question. Could you describe your technique to get the wave action on the water. Thanks! |
