The first photo I saw had my jaw laying on the floor! Very, very, nice! I'd love to see a trackplan of some sort to give an idea of how big the layout is, etc.

Thanks for posting!

Great Job !

What size is your layout?

Thanks Quintin, I have been following the Indiana Northeastern on Google Earth and have got some ideas for industries and traffic that can be interhanged with you. Some forwarding to CSX or Chessie, like boxcars with car parts from online plastics factories as well as plastic pellet hoppers. Corn and grain will probably go both ways between us. The INE looks forward to much traffic in the future.

Mark,

We normally interchange with the Indiana Northeastern empty covered hoppers to be loaded in Bremen and the loaded covered at bound for Toledo.
I am excited that you are modeling the Ind Northeastern it is a great railroad with lots of covered hoppers.

Quintin, thanks for the info, it will be most helpful in the history behind my railroad. Also, thanks for the use of the interhange, it may well be quite fun in the future. What kind of cars do you usually interchange with the Indiana Northeastern? I also plan to have an interchange with NS, so any traffi you want to forward on an go through us.

Mark,

New Paris is west of the real Indiana Northeastern. Currently the Indiana Northeastern ends in South Milford,IN which is approx 5 miles straight north of Kendallville,IN. and has a very large grain facility. The line you are considering to model is the old Wabash line from Toledo to Chicago. The line at one time did go thru New Paris and Interchanged with the New York Central into the 70's I am guessing and the Winona RR in the mid 50's.
I currently have a M&IN train interchanging with the Indiana Northeastern in New Paris.
I know that Topeka, IN use to have a fair amount of rail operations and a small yard. The old elevator still stands in Topeka as well as the Wabash railroad depot. I hope my little bit of information is helpful. You are very welcome to interchange with the M&IN.
Sincerely,

Quintin

I have a question for Quintin and Tom, Where is New Paris located in reference to the real Indiana Norhteastern? South or west? I am thinking of building a fictional Tndiana Northeastern that ame into existance in the late 70's early 80's, and would like to keep the interchange with the M&IN. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the comments Karl - I built 3 of the GR&I units for a customer.
Thanks for the comments - Richard there is no Jim Six photophaghy influence here on the Marion & Indiana Northern.

Nice work, seems almost like home for a South Michigan native. Interesting take on the GR&I unit.

I love your style - clean, crisp and weathered appropriately. Is there a Jim Six influence in your photography?

This is really a very nice layout, that another steam lover watches with pleasure, Quintin.

A freshly repainted boxcar sits at the shops before being placed into service.

A Norfolk and western covered hopper is awaiting repairs by the car department.
