Karl & Rick. Thanks guys.
Today I went out to locate some more lighting and found out that the screw globe & socket variety are old stock and out of production.
However I found some lighting tonight via ebay that I'm XXXcited about.
More on that when they arrive.
They could lead this last idea in a different direction. [:-crazy]
PS.. As a side note I'm back working on a couple of structures.

Very nice idea to display your craftsmanship.
Don't have a clue for an answer to your question though.
Leave them on for twenty or thirty years and report back the results for us.  |

Frederic. I am also using a variable controller, which means I can dim the lights or have them full. Would like to know if GOW globes will take full 12 volts. Maybe I could become a test pilot and see what happens  [:-timebm] |

Very nice display, Mario. A very creative way to store things, much more elegant than our usual shelves...
I'm afraid I'm not good enough an electrician to answer your question, but I now that I try to use the lights on my structure under lower than full voltage, and not use them at all when nobody watches them. Since they rely upon a variable voltage power supply I hope that switching them on and off doesn't damage them. |

Spent part of the day playing around with some wiring. Basic for many , but foreign matter for my brain.
I grab a box of electrical stuff I had, which has not seen the light of day for years.
In there, I had various globes, grain of wheat lites and various HO scale street lighting plus tools.
I decided to use the screw in type bulds, as these would be easy to replace.
The wiring would be direct from each source to a transformer. Hopefully I'll tidy up the wiring at the rear with plastic termal strips for additional display boxes.
my question is: How long will a buld last if left on full power.
I quite liked the extra lighting in the box and decided to add a small valance at the front with a tapered piece of balsa at the rear. I then glued on some silver foil to reflect light back onto the front of the details. It worked.
Lastly I installed 3 grain of wheat lights, forward towards the glass panel. I was hoping to obatin some extra downward lighting. However it seems when they are in series, they share the total power and lights are not as bright.
my question is: If I have each GOW wired back to the power source, How long will each last if left on full power.
Hope You can help with a few answers.

Hi Dallas.
I know the idea has been around for Yonks, but yesterday while surfing my facebook sites I came across the doll's house stuff. I'd seen these boxes over the years and decided to give my details a home while the structures are under construction.
I think I just found a pile of lights to install in the box. Gunna need help with this is, as I am useless when it comes to wiring.
I did read about wiring "grain of wheat" in series, but seems if one light blows, they all go out.

Created a temporary storage area for some of the 1:35 details.
As of this minute my kitchen table is covered in grain of wheat light's and associated bits.
Hopeing to ask a few questions shortly regarding wiring up these display boxes , to safegaurd against getting an electrical "short"

Got rid of a lot of HO stuff on Ebay this past week and my shipment of tools ( 3 lots ) arrived. Financially I'm still in front.
Just Primed and ready to paint.
However this time I'm not going to de-spruce them. I'll paint what I need, such screwdrivers, G clamps, vices etc and leave the rest, when required. I also need to stop painting all sides, when only side is seen

As always these will get lost in the structure
Gunna spend the weekend listing HO stuff for sale... I need the storage boxes
