Posted - 08/30/2007 : 10:35:25 PM One of the main interests of folks that read my column in Toy Trucker Magazine is new releases. Now I don't have a magic ball and I don't know a lot of folks in the industry but I do pay attention to what's showing up on the shelves of our LHS's. So I thought I'd share (and welcome anyone else to do the same) some of the things we have newly available. Sylvan Scale has some of the nicest little resin castings in 1/87. They're relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to build. Clare's latest additions are this 1941-46 Freuhauf furniture van

The '37 HudsonTerraplane in a panel wagon

And the '37 Chevy Suburban

Posted - 09/04/2012 : 4:15:56 PM Hi guys, My LHS just got some cars in from Herpa that I'd not seen before, they are called 'Econo-cars' priced at about $3 each. I think they would make good background vehicles.

Posted - 08/16/2011 : 11:07:37 AM Cosidering those hotwheels and matchbox cars scale out about to S scale, they look horrible when next to HO scale counterparts and people. Only some of there trucks are close, but they need new wheels and tires atleast. mh |

Posted - 08/16/2011 : 10:12:06 AM Well, your choice of course but why have lovely structures, landscaping and trains and then go and put cheap looking vehicles on your roads and parking lots? To me they stand out like a turd on a cream pie. BTW, I have the Dodge van from Brekina and they are truly beautiful, accurate to scale models. |

[:-banghead]As 1/87 vehicles reach unbelievable price ranges (goes for all mfg.'s) I fear that we are on our way back to Hot Wheels and Matchbox cast metal cruelties on many layouts. $20 will buy a not-too-bad freight car, some will rather buy that or other stuff if they have to cough up $20, and go back to $.99 clunkers to populate H0 highways. What a shame! |

Posted - 07/04/2011 : 5:01:03 PM Al, The Model R that is this model from Athearn replaced the B model in 1966 and was made into 1981. But the RD (same cabin different front end) was built into the 90's.
Jerry, I have way too many projects sitting on the bench right now including the Ford F850 Al was talking about. But I will definitely try to get one of the Model R kits for a (much) later date. |

Posted - 07/04/2011 : 1:15:26 PM Chester, what years were the Mack R trucks built?
I bought an F850 boom truck from TSM a few months back - great for kitbashing. Neat that TSM is able to make these kits available for us modelers! |

Posted - 07/04/2011 : 11:08:53 AM Great news from Athearn, available in a limited run kit form exclusively from Truck Stop Models is their R model Mack in a dump configuration. My opinion of the Athearn pieces is that they are terrific models with one problem. That of a heavy handed paint job that often hides the terrific details of the castings under too much paint. Now in addition to the Ford F 850, one can build one of the R model from an unpainted kit.
