We have had a larger group of new members in the past few days than in any three day span that I can remember.

First, we want to welcome those new members and say that we hope you find a new 'home' here!

You will find that there is a friendly atmosphere here. The use of our actual first names in a post goes a long way towards creating the 'at home' feeling that we are known for. Even though a lot of members have screen names, as I do, our signatures contain our real names so that members responding do not have to say "hey, X78UP, how did you do that weathering?"

We hope that you soon feel comfortable enough to do the same!

Jim, all four of my grandparents were born in Holland. I have the old records to see exactly where, but I'm on the road right now.

My real name is in my handle. Hey Dutchman, I am a Dutchman too. My family is from Leidschendam, Netherlands.

"Real" names have never mattered to me, nor am I willing to fall into the trap of refusing to acknowledge anyone who doesn't post their real name. One reason is because I worked as a prison medical medical officer for many years, and I retired into an area surrounded by none state prisoners and the Federal Supermax prison...and while I know exactly who I am...who exactly are you? Can you prove it to me over the internet? Hold your driver's license up to the screen, maybe?

I'm interested in the hobby itself, and in the individuals and their skills and ideas, not in their precise identity, which does not change anything in the real world one iota.

I'm a modeler - not a cop.

As Dutchmen pointed out, signing each post with your real name is very civil and what makes RRL such a nice place to visit.

I have been here four years and still enjoying the great atmosphere.

Jim...where are you in Dairyland? Our club is modeling northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin. Welcome.
